Acne & The Havok It Causes In Our Lives
If you are in middle school or high school, you probably have troubles with acne. Sure, there are many times those few students somehow blessed with beautiful skin that is completely blemish-free all through their teens, but if they manage to graduate high school without ever having a zit the rules of averages would suggest that something intent go terribly wrong later in their existence. At least the rest of us can always hope.
Acne can go a long way in wrecking the day, or at least wrecking the self-esteem. Waking up with a big red zit on the middle of your chin can be disastrous, especially if it is on the day of the prom or on the day of the first year with the girl or guy of the dreams. Once the zit is already there, there is not a whole lot you can do.
You can pop it and be left with a red stain or just go it there and suffer through it. Personally, though it may run contrary popular opinion, I would say pop the thing. Think about it, when you see others kids in the halls is it easier to see a little red mark or a big red and white pimple?
Speaking of other kids, they have acne too. Though it may feel like it sometimes, you are not the only one who occasionally has acne. It may feel like everybody else is staring at the zit on your chin, but really, they are not. They probably could not care less if you had ten zits on your chin, since they are probably too preoccupied worrying about their own acne. Adolescence brings with it a whole host of insecurities so do not worry, everybody else is freaking out too.
So, what can you do about your acne? As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Unfortunately for several, acne is, in part, innate. Some people are genetically prone to having amazingly clear skin, some have average skin with pimples cropping up all now and then, while yet some are genetically afflicted with having terrible skin. If you discover yourself somewhere in the last two categories like most people, all hope is not lost.
Since acne is cause by dirt and oil getting trapped within your pores, the best prevention against acne is to scrub your face steadily, at least every morning and night. Use mild soap to refrain from irritation. A mild astringent can help some people dry out their faces and cut down the amount of oil on their skin, but for others it dries out their skin too much. Several prescription acne medicines are available, but these usually are not worth the hassle and side effects unless your acne is peculiarly chronic.
